Latest News: 100% Home-Based Education for California Students

The California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the schools in the counties that are on the coronavirus watchlist will remain closed. This means many of our children will not return to school in a few months and there is a possibility that they will not reopen schools this year for in-person classes. Which leaves us parents wondering: What is going to happen now? What are we going to do? How will we manage homeschooling? Do we have what it takes to be our children's teachers? I must be honest I stress about having my children at home all day every day because statistics prove that children forget many of the things they learn in school over the summer. Now imagine what will happen when children are home all year long?

My daughters love school. They enjoy socializing with other children. They miss their school, their teachers, and their friends very much. They wonder when this virus will go away, and constantly ask when summer will be over so they can go back to school? I wish I had the answers to their questions. I wish they could go back to school with their friends and teachers.

Most of us had an opportunity to homeschool our children for a few months this year. I must admit that I found it to be challenging. Children need structure and constancy, and at home it is difficult to achieve since they have so many distractions.

Now, I am only waiting to hear from my children’s schools to find out what their plan is and what resources will be available for their home-based education. I have done some research and have a few ideas to help my family transition into this new norm. I will be sharing my ideas and resources on my next blog.

Please feel free to share your ideas and recommendations in the comments, so we can create a community of parents who work together to homeschool their children successfully.

  1. During the COVID-19 pandemic, home-based learning was introduced in all schools to make learning as seamless as possible at home, without the need for physical interaction in close proximity to other students. As an online student, you can access class wherever you have a connected device, but a strong internet connection is required. Low bandwidth and weak internet can affect how quickly you can connect and participate in class. The challenges you shared with us are very important as a student's point of view. I love to share a proper guide that will help students for home base learning. Visit here - Guide to Learning at Home Effectively
